The right response begins with identifying the pest and its hiding places.

Start with pest identification

Tell us what you have seen, where it occurs and how long the activity has continued. Clear photographs, droppings or signs of damage may help the assessment, but the treatment should follow a proper identification of the pest and site conditions.

The quotation considers property size, activity, access and treatment requirements. A small localised problem may need a different plan from established activity across several rooms or units. Share any previous treatments so they can be considered when assessing the next step.

Cockroaches, ants and other crawling pests

Kitchens, cupboards, cracks and service routes can provide food, moisture and shelter. Assessment looks beyond the insects visible at the time of the visit and considers the areas where activity is recurring.

Targeted treatment, monitoring and practical housekeeping or proofing recommendations may form part of the plan. Products and methods must suit the pest and setting. Food-handling areas, children, pets and sensitive occupants should be discussed before a visit is arranged.

Bed bugs, fleas and furnished rooms

Bed bugs and other biting pests need a pest-specific assessment rather than a generic promise that one spray solves every problem. Tell us which rooms are affected, how the space is occupied and whether items have been moved between units.

Preparation, treatment stages and any follow-up should be confirmed in the proposal. We discuss how bedding, furnishings and access will be managed; laundry can be coordinated separately where appropriate. Treatment results depend on the pest, infestation and the agreed process.

Rats, mice and entry-point control

Rodent management considers signs of activity, access routes, food and waste conditions as well as an appropriate control strategy. Commercial stores, kitchens and homes can have different monitoring and reporting needs.

Any stations, monitoring devices or placement restrictions must be planned for the premises and occupancy. Proofing or repairs are separately identified rather than assumed to be included. Tell us about children, pets, food storage and neighbouring areas before the scope is confirmed.

Termites and commercial pest plans

Termite activity, timber damage and suspected structural entry require a specific survey and quotation. Treatment of soil, wood or parts of a building cannot be priced simply from bedroom count. Structural repairs remain separate from pest treatment.

Businesses can discuss an ongoing management plan with inspections, monitoring, reporting and clearly defined visits. Restaurants, warehouses, guest properties and shared buildings need plans that account for their use, access and sensitivity. Specialist tasks are confirmed case by case.

Pest control is not always gas fumigation

People often use “fumigation” to describe many kinds of pest treatment. Household pest work may use targeted methods such as appropriate baits or localised applications; true gas fumigation is a specialist procedure and requires separate assessment and controls.

The treatment proposal should identify the method, operator arrangements, products where applicable, preparation and any follow-up. Ask for confirmation of the appropriately licensed operator and product suitability before booking. A method is chosen for the pest and property, not just the service name.

Before treatment and returning to the space

Discuss occupancy, food storage, children, pets, aquariums and any relevant sensitivities with the provider before treatment. You should receive preparation, access and re-entry instructions specific to the selected method and product.

There is no single waiting time suitable for every pest treatment. Follow the operator’s written instructions and product-label requirements for leaving, ventilation, returning and cleaning afterwards. Do not substitute a general website time for the directions supplied for your visit.

Follow-up, prevention and expectations

Some problems need reinspection, more than one treatment or changes to access points, storage and housekeeping. Confirm which follow-up visits are included and how additional work is charged. A routine quote should not imply permanent protection or guaranteed elimination after one visit.

Share any continuing signs of activity with the service contact and follow the agreed reporting process. Our aim is a clear, practical plan: understand the issue, confirm the appropriate service and help you make informed decisions about your property.
